My wife and I were in Jackpot for the annual party a co-worker of mine throws each spring. She's trying to hike more with me and that has worked out well... well, maybe until now.

Cold Springs Mountain is located about 30 miles south-southwest of Jackpot. It is in the middle of a very dry area with little vegetation.

We drove a great, improved road from US 93 to the west side of the mountain. We parked and just headed up the southwest slopes of the peak.

The day was sunny, but it was dry, windy, and dusty. The vegatation was sparse and the wife wasn't too impressed. However, it was excercise and my route spotted from below led us up a nice ramp that ended right near the true summit of the peak.

The summit sported a benchmark and decent views. The remnants of a triangulation station are still visible on the summit. It had taken us just over an hour (1 hour and 4 minutes exactly) to climb the 1500 feet to the top.

Amazingly there was just a few drifts on the north side of the peak, despite it being early April.

After enjoying the views, resting the legs, and a sandwich on top we headed down the slopes and off to Jackpot to relax and hangout with friends.

We drove 25 miles south of Jackpot and turned right (west) onto an improved road. This road heads up Jakes Creek, passing Boies Reservoir, before it turns and follows Dry Fork and leads to the base of Cold Springs Mountain.

We parked along the improved road along Dry Fork, just southwest of the peak. We then found a ramp that led northeast, then directly east and to the top of the peak.
