Trip Report
After visiting Valley of Fire the previous day, we were headed to the Grand Canyon. On our way, I wanted to stop and checkout Hoover Dam from a highpoint above it. I researched it and found Dam View Point on the Arizona side of Colorado River. It seemed like a quick "hop out and hike" trip. However... it was very hot, very windy, and the route was more rugged than we expected. That said, we really enjoyed the views of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.

Getting There
Take US 93 east out of Las Vegas. After crossing the Colorado River and into Arizona, take Exit 2 (Kingman Wash Access Road). Take this good, but wash-boarded gravel road for 2 miles. You will reach a saddle just before the road starts loosing elevation and as it drops toward Lake Mead. Park at this saddle.

Hiking Directions
See the route track. We basically hiked west to the base of the peak and then climbed pretty much up the east face. On the way down we hiked the south ridge down further and followed a wash out. This was a less steep route for sure!
