I saw this peak from Cervidae Peak (4987) and saw from the topo that it met the 300 foot promincence rule, making it a real peak (well, by the rules). It turned out to be a fun and easy hike in a decent area. Not too bad a workout either.

Drive:
Head toward Idaho City on Idaho 21 and turn east onto the Middle Fork Road heading towards Atlanta. After 3.6 miles, pull off the road and park.
Route:
Ascend the south ridge of Macks Peak between two ponds on the north side of the road. You will head due north on the ridge until the peak is in sight, when you will turn northwest, then north again to the top.
